👥 SHARING GEMS WITH YOUR TEAM

  1. CREATE: Build a Gem for a common task

    Example: "IEP Goal Writer" or "Behavior Plan Builder" with your team's preferred format

  2. COPY: Share the Instructions text

    Go to your Gem → Copy the instructions → Send via email or shared doc to teammates

  3. TEAM: Everyone creates the same Gem

    Each person creates a new Gem and pastes the shared instructions — now everyone has it!

CREATE A SHARED GOOGLE DOC

  1. Create a Google Doc titled "[Team Name] AI Prompt Library"
  2. Organize by category: IEP Goals, Behavior, Differentiation, Parent Communication
  3. Each prompt includes: Name, Category, The Prompt, and Who contributed it
  4. Share with edit access so everyone can add their best prompts
  5. Review monthly at PLC — What's working? What needs improvement?

⚠ Troubleshooting

Common problems and how to fix them

❌ PROBLEM: "Gemini gave me something generic or wrong"

✅ FIX: Add more specifics! Include grade level, disability category, and exactly what format you need. Say "This isn't quite right — I need it to be more [specific]." Gemini learns from your feedback in the conversation.

❌ PROBLEM: "My HTML game doesn't work"

✅ FIX: Say "The game isn't working. Can you check for errors and fix them?" OR "Simplify this game — remove any complex features and make it basic." Also try opening the file in Chrome instead of Edge.

❌ PROBLEM: "NotebookLM won't upload my file"

✅ FIX: Check file size (max 500K words per source). Try converting to PDF or Google Doc first. For scanned PDFs, use Google Drive to OCR the text first. Max 50 sources per notebook.

❌ PROBLEM: "I hit the usage limit"

✅ FIX: Wait until the next day (limits reset daily). Try using NotebookLM for some tasks instead. Use Gems to reduce back-and-forth. Make prompts more specific to get better results in fewer tries.

❌ PROBLEM: "I can't find the Canvas/Gems/Features"

✅ FIX: Make sure you're at gemini.google.com (not an old Bard link). Check you're logged in with your @ssd.k12.mo.us account. Canvas appears BELOW the prompt bar. Gems are in the LEFT sidebar under the Gemini logo.

❌ PROBLEM: "Gemini forgot what we talked about"

✅ FIX: Stay in the SAME conversation for related tasks. If you start a new chat, Gemini starts fresh. Use a Gem to save your context permanently. For long conversations, re-state key details.
